Jr. Prom and after-party

Dancing is tiring, but fun. So is talking with random people, like the underclassmen officers, and the juniors. Overall a good time.

After party:
-losing to Junead in pool (on my first hit)
-playing basketball with Shilpa(who is a hack) and Lamar
-beating Davon in Super Smash Brothers
-singing lullabies with Ruthie
-playing chess with Jules
-making fun of a tired Sonia
-criticizing Katie's bangs
-Julia tucking me in
-Chris tricking me into thinking someone went to the ER
-listening to Kirsten so i didn't get kicked

Lyric of the Day:
"I am the son

And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar"
-The Smiths:"How Soon Is Now"

Random Story of The Day:

It's about 4 o clock in the morning, and everything is toning down at the party.
Frank: Let's go play some basketball...
(I get up and take off my blanket)
Me: Alright, teams or fifty?
Frank: I was joking, sit back down...

Communication between the sexes

Today in psych we had an interesting class. We talked about gender roles, and stereotypes.

Last class, the girls pretended to be guys. Complete with the "hand-in-jeans lean", it was entertaining to watch the girls as they talked about how their "girlfriends" are always bothering them to talk, and how they have to try to ignore her while watching the game. Example of this:

Cyanide and Happiness, a daily webcomic
Cyanide & Happiness @ Explosm.net

Today, the guys had their chance to complain about their "boyfriend". We got to comment on how he's always leaving us for his friends, how he is always checking out other girls, and how lucky he is to be with a girl like us. The biggest contraverset arose when Josh said that girls purposefully mix messages, to the point where "No, leave me alone" means "Hug me".

Apparently "No, im busy" doesn't mean "try harder" though. Except when it does.

Lyric of the Day:
" So listen up!

Look at me straight!
Just hear me out!
Don't make me wait!"
-Frou Frou:"Hear me out"

Random Story of The Day:

So, I'm walking from Psychology to the bathroom. I have to pass Mr. Bruns' APUSH class. I pass the first door way, and as I walk, I hear Jared yell "Hey Dinesh!!!!". As I walk by the second room door, i wave to the juniors.
Walking back to the psych room, I cover my face with the clipboard as i walk past the first door in order to be covert. As I walk by the second, I hear Jared burst out laughing. I was later told he was like that for five minutes.
The Juniors are crazy, I can't miss my last night to hang with those kids.

Ramblings....

Well, here I am, nearly graduation, and I still haven't accomplished all that I planned. Reguardless of my talks of zany antics, not every spectacular thing has happened in high school. Can I honestly say I tried?

I did. Enough to satisfy myself at the time. But was it enough? Could I have tried harder?

Probably.

But does it matter that I didn't try hard enough? I mean even without any change, I still feel satisfied. But its only fleeting. It isn't the satisfation that comes with progress, but that comes from accepting defeat. Have I been defeated?

Temporarily.

But, I can always try.

Lyric of the Day:
"Hey there lookin' at me

Tell me what do you see
But you quickly turn your head away
Try to find the words I could use
Don't have the courage to come up to you
My chance is looking a bit grey"
-Green Day:"At The Library"

Irony of The Day:

In 9th grade I told Elan I feared superhumans.
Weird and Unique , huh?
Now I know what I fear.
Losing my individuality.
Fittting the Status Quo.

APs have arrived...

Today was the first real indicator that the APs were seriously close, we had an AP Psych study session. We had pizza, sodas and brownies. Overall lots of fun!

Random Story of The Day:

I got a set of magnetic marbles from the physics fair. As I'm writing this, I decide to play with them. One falls from me and starts to roll to my computer tower.
Whose the IT kid playing with magnets by his computer?
I am.

NHS Induction

Well today was fun, I spent the end of third period and all of fourth helping the NHS prepare for the induction tonight.

We had a ghetto-draft at Collins', which was a good way to burn three hours waiting for 7. I went 4-2, the best record there, with a little WBR concoction based on fliers and necromancer's magemark.

Induction was maily watching officers(Kezia, Akash, Joe, Nonye, and James) get up and read pre-fabricated speeches. The reception afterwards was fun, we talked a bunch about colleges, and I managed to fool people with my Hopkins T-shirt from Physics Fair. Cheap jokes and laughs were a fair amount of fun. Funniest thing of the night was when Joe asked Katelyn how she got so tall, then she pointed out she was wearing heels that gave her like 2 inches lift.

Lyric of the Day:
"
She should have stood out in a crowd
She should have made her mother proud
She should have fallen on her stance
She should have had another chance
She should have-been a son
She should have-been a son"
-Nirvana:"Been a Son"

Random Story of The Day:

Dan hears we are all stressed about English HW sunday night.
Dan: wait what do you guys have to do for english?
Me: journal entries
Dan: just so i get it out of my system
Dan: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Me: ouch lol
Dan: ok i'm good now lol

UMCP, definitely.

Well, I'm doing Gemstone at UMCP.
YAY Banneker Key!!!

That is all.

Lyric of the Day:
"You've got to stop and draw a line

And everyone here has to choose a side tonight
The moment of truth is haunting you
Don't forget your family
Regardless of what you choose to do"
-Streetlight Manifesto:"A Better Place, A Better Time"

Random Story of the Day:
Journals are due tomorrow, so I'm trying to find them all.
Me: what does the satire definition look like?
Tuua: satire definition....
Me: JE2?
Tuua: its a chart
Tuua: that says "toward a definition of satire"
Me: color?
Tuua: white
Me: ouch..thats half my binder
Tuua: mm
Tuua: you'll find it
Me: Well...I'm off to try and find it...

Q+A!

Today I got one weird "questionnaire". Usually, this would go as a Random Story, but I felt the content of this letter was so important, I had to address it in the main part of my blog(the greatest thing ever!).

Onto the Questionaire(text in italics) and my answers(in bold):

To Dinesh

If you were a clone would you rather be an Alpha or Beta clone. Or none
(If you chose none then you have remain pure with the 501st)
Write your class!
I would be neither. But there were clones in the 501st when it first started. In fact the only ones who served Lord Vader were clones.
Have you ever been or currently on a quest with a 7 ft armored knight comrad looking for a particular stone?
Yeah, but in my quest my 7 ft armored knight wasn't my little brother whose soul I had bounded into a suit of armor.
If you appreciate marbles with orange stars on them scream for joy. Then e-mail me later. Yes/No?
Yeah, but only before Cell went after them. Saiyan Saga was the best.
When you challenge me to a duel, how do you know when you are ready?
When I hear a voice say "Its time to DU-DU-DU-DUEL!!".
If you were faster than I, could you prove it? How?
I would get Phil to help me rush D2. Thats the fastest I can get.
Comments:
It would be nice to know who the author of this was....

Lyric of the Day:
"Tonight I watch the lights go out in your house

Wondering how I could get so deep
And you could still get to sleep
In vain I blame my trembling on the cold air"
-Something Corporate:"She Paints Me Blue"

Random Story of The Day:

So Saturday was the Hopkins Physics Fair. Elan, Joe, and I need a fourth for our physics bowl team.
Me: Call Mwuara again.
Elan: I called, no answer. There is Jake from summer at Hopkins, he could be our third.
Me: Fine, lets go introduce ourselves.
Elan: Sure, but I have to go to the bathroom.(dashes off down stairs)
Me: Joe, lets go up to this "Jake".
Joe: That seems a bit...
Me: Come on, there's no problem with two random guys walking up to you and knowing your name. Oh, wait...there is.

Inconsistency: Normally, I don't do commentary...

Today in Psychology we learned that teenagers appear inconsistent and hypocritical because we have not yet settled our identities. I have no problem with this, but it made me aware of the hypocracy that is all around me. And it is fairly annoying.

Politics for one thing. Republicans want restricting social laws (i.e. no gay marriage, capital punishment, etc.), yet fail to see the necessity of business laws that restrict big business, saying that it is not the government's place to control business. So they can tell people what to do, but not large companies.

One could always feel annoyed by the fact that they go to read a blog that is usually a boring recap of the day, and a less than entertaining story, and end up finding something that actually means something. My bad dawg, my bad.

This entry cut short for Econ...

Lyric of the Day:
"I'd give my heart, I'd give my soul

I'd turn it back, it's my fault.
Your destiny is forlorn,
Have to live till it's undone.
I'd give my heart, I'd give my soul
I'd turn it back and then at last I'll be on my way."
-Within Temptation:"Jillian"

Random Story of The Day:

So yesterday Tuua IMs me.
Tuua: Elan called me belligrant
Me: belligerant?
Tuua: whatever
Tuua: yes
Tuua: i cant spell
Me: ok
Me: well, i think i am more than you, and he's never called me that
Me: checked, spelled belligerent in case you care
Tuua: lol

Back to School....blarg

Well today was a schoolday, unlike my past week. And now its getting close to go-time: Prom, APs, Picking a College, Ball, Finals, Senior Week, and Graduation.

Today in Physics I realized something horrible. I was unprepared for the AP Physics test, and its in a mere two weeks. With that in mind ill make the rest of this short.

Econ was even more despiriting, but when I realized that i missed 4 days in the class right before the test I was surprised I passed at all.

Joe owes me a favor

Just reminding myself that Joe owes me one for helping at the NHS Hopkins Basket. Even though I had fun, I still have to call in this favor before we graduate. Ideas?

Lyric of the Day:
"Two weeks away it feels like the world should've changed

But I'm home now
And things still look the same
I think I'll leave it to tomorrow till unpack
Try to forget for one more night
That I'm back in my flat on the road
Where the cars never stop going through the night
To real life where I can't watch sunset
I don't have time
I don't have time "
-Dido:" Sand in My Shoes"

Random Story of The Day:

Today as we are driving out of the parking lot, we see Katie in her car.

Me: I should have gotten my car painted a new color instead of just replacing the red
Elan: Yeah, that would have been cool.
Me: I could have done like some crazy color like teal, orange, or purple
Elan: A purple car...
Me: Don't tell me you don't remember...
Elan: Katie's car is purple isn't it?
Me: Good Job...
Elan: We just saw her car didn't we?
Me: I see your short term memory is improving...and in time for AP tests.

And course it's all okay to carry on that way "
-Artic Monkeys: "A Certain Romance"

Spring Break '06:Day 1

Went to the pool, swam for three hours. Arms tired, So I'm done for the night.

Lyric of the Day:
"Ana Ng and I are getting old

And we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence
Listen Ana hear my words
They're the ones you would think I would say if there was a me for you"
-They Might Be Giants:"Ana Ng"

Show it off!

So yeah, we're showing the house to people who want to buy it. This means all of my stuff has to be the cleanest it ever was.

At least Kiran showed me how he put the sound system and lights in his brother's car today...

"And if you carry on this way

Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight "
-My Chemical Romance:"Helena"

Random Story of The Day:
A friend IMs me.

Friend: r u in love?
Me: nope, just resentful and tired

Student Night at Camden Yard: Os v. Red Socks

Yesterday was student night at Camden Yards, meaning tics were $5 a peice. After dropping Joe to work, Collins and I chilled at his house waiting for Katie to pick us up. Chris gets a call, asking how to get to his house, but he is terrible at it, so I end up giving Katie directions. We wait for half an hour, watching Phil play Battlefield 2. Eventually, Chris' dad tells us to come look at something, this purple car had been circling the entire neighborhood. Who else drives a purple Escort?(Escort...You fill in the punch line...)

We pile in the back with Kneil, leaving Frank to ride shotgun. I check my pockets and realize that I have my cell, Sci-Fair pen, Pohlner pen, keys, calculator, and and old pass to an NHS meeting. One necessary item not covered above was my wallet, which I had left in my car. While I was freaking out about forgetting my wallet, Chris told me to calm down...I could just pay him back later.

Katie parked in the city for free, but Julia actually paid $10 to park. The game started terribly, the Orioles pitcher giving the other team 7 runs in the first two innings....Eventually, the score ended up being 8-14. Julia dropped me and Chris off at his house, and I spent the night there.

Well, gotta go pack for FL!!!

Lyric of the Day:
"City streets at night

Can be so intimidating
I'm not the toughest guy
I gotta keep my eyes open"
-Weezer:"Freak Me Out"

Random Story of The Day:
At Chris' house, we are both tired and slightly out of it.

Chris: Dinesh you want something to eat?
Me: Yeah!
Chris: I'm going to heat us up hot pockets
Me: Alright, I'm just going to play Battlefront till you are done
(Chris comes back a seond later with a fork and a hot pocket)
Me(thinking): He totally forgot to get me a Hot Pocket, but he's too tired, I wont bother him.
(Chris leaves the Hot Pocket by his spot on the carpet)
Me(thinking): Now he leaves his here to torture me...
(Chris starts playing on his computer)
Me(thinking): Did he forget about his Hot Pocket, I should remind him
Me: Chris you left your Hot Pocket here!
Chris: Dude, that one is for you

Private parties and College Cooking

Today lunch was hilarious. I mean anyday Davon ends up running into the hall way screaming, "Stupid Straight people ruin America!", has to be pretty funny. Chris came in late to journalism lunch and gave me half a cookie, saying he was at the party in Ginthner's. Not satisfied with one cookie, much less half, I decided to tail Chris to this "party". When I reach there I am shooed out of the room...Guess it was for the kids in Ginther's class and their boyfriends only...
It's Academic was decent, we got low 1400s. We learned that instead of saying definitely with my first answer, I should say "RIGHT?!" instead. Hopefully this raises our score. Akash says it will...definitely!
When I got home, mom decided that I should cook dinner in preperation for college.
Yay for mashed potato and slightly burnt baked chicken!

Lyric of the Day:
"Stand my ground, I won't give in.
No more denying, I got to face it.
Won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside.
If I don't make it, someone else will...
Stand my ground "
-Within Temptation:"Stand My Ground"

Random Story of The Day:
Jade IMs me bout the test tomorrow in Econ.
Jade: Did we ever take notes on monopolistic competition?
Me: Apparently you did on Monday, when I wasn't there
Jade: monday?
Me: yeah it was monday or at least elan told me monday
Jade: Shit.. thats like a longtime ago
Me: Its like three days ago....

Cultural Experience: Radio Golf

Today was Senior Skip Day!!!

Meaning of course, that I went to school.

Well not so much school, as to a school sponsored field trip to Center Stage. The play was interesting, a foray into the Black Community of the 1990's. It was interesting to see the conflict between preserving the past and paving the way to the future. Also, the tension between those achieving through sacrificing their individuality, and those who refuse to sacrifice themselves was quite moving.

Joe was on my left sleeping for the first half, and Chris was on my right dancing to the music in between scenes. On the bus, Jared had a gigantic bag of snacks, and after I had a couple(or more) handfuls of snacks, I realized that the snacks had fulfilled 60% of my daily sugar intake. As long as I don't get diabetes I'm fine though...

Lyric of the Day:
"Ask me anything you like

I'll reveal everything
I will treasure the truth
You could know anything"
-Sondre Lerche:"Sleep on Needles"

Random Story of The Day:

I'm standing next with Akash, Joe, Chris, Jared, and Milton waiting for the bus to come. I see Joe nod his head to someone behind me.

"Joe, you slick bastard...", I think to myself, "Who are you nodding at, and do I know her?".

I decide to be covert in turning around, not wanting to make Joe realize that I saw him nodding to some girl at the play.

When I turn around, standing behind me is Julius.

Well, there went all delusions of Joe's prowess.

Trigger-happy Chris...

Today in Physics was interesting. After hearing how I got sick yesterday from eating two Dove ice cream bars (I'm allergic to milk, not lactose intolerant), the class decided that this was the most amusing thing of the day. So James writes "Dinesh will die for a Dove Bar" on the board with a picture of a Dove Bar on the board. Ensuring that the message is spread across the language barrier, he then wrote it in Spanish, putting next to it a Dove Bar with a little sombrero. Its great to see that 4 years of Spanish has paid off. :O

English was as fun as ever, and it is interesting to note that Chris is still trying to get on the trailer as his ride to ball. IAC was exiting, even though we only got 1398. Thanks to Kezia for telling me it would be a good idea to link my blog to my myspace. Hopefully more people will comment now!

After IAC, Elan, Chris and I head to his house where he shows us Phil's new comp, a Dell XPS. Chris shows us the system specs, but instead of going to Control Panel, he opens up BattleFeild II. The game runs extremely smoothly, but Chris constantly gets killed when he is reloading. Thats what happens when you are trigger-happy, and shoot everything, including allied tanks adn empty boats!

Lyric of the Day:
"House of jealous lovers
One hand ties the other
House of jealous lovers
The jealous lover's house

SHAKEDOWN!"
-The Rapture: "House of Jealous Lovers"

Random Story of The Day:
Today in Health, we started Sex Ed. in an interesting way.

Hannon(To the class): Do you think you are sexually healthy?
(Chooses Britney)
Britney: Yes, I dont have any STDs.
(Chooses me)
Me: Yes, I'm comfortable with my gender role.
(Chooses Elan)
Elan: No, I don't get half as much as I should get.
(Class errupts in laughter)

Allergies

Being allergic to milk means that you get sick when you eat too much ice cream. Damn you Hagen Das and your chocolatey goodness!

So I definitely missed school, making it the third B-day in a row I've missed. With a feild trip on Wednesday, things are looking bad for the Econ and Stats AP tests. O well, that why i got the Princeton Review books...

Off to read Wuthering Heights!

Lyric of the Day:
" In you and I there's a new land,
Angels in flight
My sanctuary, my sanctuary, yeah
Where fears and lies melt away "
-Utada Hikaru: "Sanctuary"

(Kingdom Hearts II song!!!)

Random Story of The Day:

When Elan came over last week, he downloaded the Kingdom Hearts 2 Opening and Trailer to my computer. I ended up liking the theme song so much that I actually spent 30 mins on Wikipedia reading about Utada. I then discovered that she did two covers of her song, and english version(Sanctuary) and a Japanese version(Passion), both of which I added to my playlist. Curse you Elan for making me add more catch J-pop to my playlist!

New Songs!!!

Well, I added two new songs to my myspace player. Enjoy!!!
www.myspace.com/bigdandtherevolution
Add me!

Lyric of the Day:
" I'm goin' so fast that I can't slow down

It's hard to get up when you're spinnin' round and round
I'd tell you the news but nothin's changed
I'd sing you a song but they blew it away
All wrapped up in this stupid ass game"
-Kings of Leon: "California Waiting"

Random Story of The Day:

A pair of slightly amusing comments-

I'm very sorry that rotten Dinesh and the fake german spread such misconceptions across the school. I hope you can accept my humblest apology, and visit the KTSNTTV (Kids That Sit Next To The TV) sometime soon.
Sincerely,
Christopher Collins

Oh Collins, of course i can accept your apology. Its not your fault your best friends are gossip queens. i will make a visit to the KTSNTTV soon since the shit is starting to hit the fan at the TNTTAF (table next to the american flag). Oh and tell your "deutsch" buddy to watch his back.
Your Friend,
Katie Ryan

Let it be known for the record that while I do not deny being a "gossip queen", I deny spreading rumors about Chris. And as for the Elan being called a "fake german" I feel that it is entirely untrue. Anyone who has seen the kid turn bright pink when he is slapped in the face can cleary support this fact.

Guys and Dolls and Directions

Yesterday was just crazy overall.

First, I visit every teacher that has written me rec letters to get the letters my NG scholarshipp needed. Turns out only two were able to print out copies of their letters, and I am barely able to get it to MS. McGhin. Of course this means I have to run through the hall way carrying all of my textbooks in my arms, trying not to drop "the pile". ("The pile" is actually quite infamous, having eaten an IRP and three Journals)

When I get outside there is a crowd of people hanging around by my car. "Oh shit, another dead bird", I think to myself as I walk up to my car. After telling Chris to get his ass off my car, we start loading up our stuff for the trip to Collins'. After all of us (Elan, Chris, Joe, Ruthie, Angela, Tuua, Katie and I ) do a "We are family" cheer, we head out.

At Collins' he tells us his N64 works now. That means Pokemon Stadium! I mean besides dance-offs and manly challenges, the arena is the best way to settle disputes peacefully. Chris gives Joe his "unbeatable team" and the kid manages to lose in several attempts. After ridiculing Joe not being "the very best like no one ever was", we drop him to work and Elan and I head out to his house.

We get to Elan's house, have toasted ham and cheese sandwiches, watch some Reboot, and get directions. We use Mapquest, but I copy the directions to Word and remove the pictures in order to not waste ink. We head out, and our journey begins.

We follow directions until we got to the I-95. I ask Elan what exit we have to take. "The directions end here", he says. We figure out that I forgot to copy the whole directions so he calls up Josie. After making sure that she got two tickets, he writes down the information, and tells me, "Take the 32". His phone beeps and he realizes he missed a call. He calls back Tuua, and starts asking why she called. I see the 32 ahead, but realize that he never told me East or West. As he is talking to Tuua, I ask him which way to go, and he ignores me, engrossed in his conversation.

"Hang the goddam phone up and give me directions!", I yell out. He complies, and in fifteen minutes we are at the school. Josie is there waiting, and gives us the tickets. We see the show, which is quite impressive, especially since they have a real "pit" and adjustable ceiling for acoustic control. At intermission, I check out the drama shirts while Elan goes to the bathroom. The show concludes, and after Josie sees us off, we head to Elans' house. I reach my own house at 11:30, and see twoletters on the table.

One is a real letter for getting into Hopkins. The other however is the Bannaker Key Award from College Park. Talk about mixed messages in my brain. College for free is a really good thing when you got a little brother, but Hopkins does have nice facilities and is in Baltimore.

Lyric of the Day:
" Eleanor rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been

Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ? "
-The Beatles: Eleanor Rigby

Here are some quotes from those Drama T-shirts:
-"Actors do it on stage"
-"Dancers do it in all positions"
-"Techies do it in the dark"
-"Hold me, I'm a Fermata"
-"Music is life, everything else is drama"
-"Techie(n.) -person blamed when actors screw up"
